With at Least 20 Different Specialties, the Single Doctor is No More

Medicine used to be much simpler in the old days. Back when it was still an art, a single medicine man would be responsible for curing problems felt by patients beginning atthe top of their head to and ending at tips of their toes.

Even as medicine evolved in to a science, a single doctor continued to be responsible for all ailments in the early days. But instead of practicing medicine as an art, it was now practiced as an applied science wherein the diagnosis, the treatment, and the prevention of diseases are done.

With so much time and knowledge increasing since those early times, the days of the single doctor have passed. With information detailing how complicated the human body is, different types of doctors have arisen.

All told, there are at least 20 specialties where doctors can be found in:

•    Anesthesiologist
•    Cardiothoracic anesthesiology
•    Emergency medicine
•    Family medicine
•    General surgery
•    Internal medicine
•    Medical genetics
•    Neurosociology
•    Neurosurgery
•    Obstetrics and gynaecology
•    Ophthalmology
•    Orthopedic surgery
•    Otolaryngology
•    Pediatrics
•    Plastic surgery
•    Preventive medicine
•    Radiation therapy
•    Radiology
•    Urology

With so many specialties, it is no wonder that medical negligence lawyers are needed to understand what constitutes medical negligence as opposed to other factors.
